Anados - Biography

Music is more than a word to Anados. She grew up in a diverse family where her father was a singer/songwriter who played guitar and sang in quartets, at weddings and performed in local theatre. Her mother also played piano and sang.

Throughout her early years, she sang in plays, pageants and at numerous local, school and community events. Anados began writing songs at the age of ten and had a repertoire of original songs by eighteen years of age. At this time, she decided to join a pop rock band as the lead singer.

While working with local musicians, she was introduced to the legendary lead guitarist from the band “Cutting Crew” and worked with him for several months, arranging over 30 of her songs.

One of these songs titled, “Queen on the Water” was released to radio and received airplay on Halifax’s #1 FM station, which prompted an interview on a radio morning show. It also placed in the final category in a song writing contest for the famous “Bluenose” sailing schooner, sponsored by N.S. Tourism. The single was distributed to record stores and sold out.

This positive response encouraged Anados to record a full-length pop/rock CD of her original songs. She began working with a Juno award-winning producer at Halifax’s Solar Studios. The album was titled “This Kind of Love”. After the release of the CD, she received a phone call from an A&R rep at a major record label in Toronto, who said that she was interested in her music and wanted to hear more of. Her enthusiasm fueled Anados’ inspiration further.

Anados ventured to Toronto and joined a rock band who was looking for a lead singer. She performed at several festival events, at the Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto and at other venues, while focusing on her songwriting. She worked with several arrangers in Toronto. She spent ½ of her time with acting agencies working on TV commercials, and commercial photo shoots and also as a background extra for feature films. 

A desire to expand her horizons and explore new opportunities led her to Nashville, Tennessee, where she performed at the Wildhorse Saloon. This opened new doors for her when she met one of Nashville’s top managers, who had previously managed Garth Brooks, George Straight, Tanya Tucker, etc. He presented her with a management contract and started promoting her immediately. Anados met with song publishing companies and started gathering material for her first country album. She recorded a full-length album titled “Turn It Up”, that was a blend of country and rockabilly, working with some of Nashville top session musicians who had played for Tim McGraw, Martina McBride and other major Nashville recording artists. 

A permanent move to Nashville was not an option for Anados. She returned to Toronto while promotion continued for her album. Her 1^st single: “57 Chevy”, charted at #65 on the Canadian Country Music Top 100.

Three (3) other songs from the album also charted in the top 100. She received airplay in Australia, Europe, the US and Japan. Following this Anados wrote a Christmas song titled “Santas on his Way to Town”, which hit #2 on the music charts in Spain. A music video was filmed in Nashville for the song “57 Chevy” and posted to YouTube and to her label’s website.

Anados returned to Nashville to record a 2nd country CD titled: “Boots, Jeans, Jacket”. The CD’s 1^st single: “Family Man” charted in the top 100 on Canadian Country music. Two (2) other singles were released to Canadian country radio and played across Canada. This led Anados to participate in a live radio interview on a major country radio station in Saskatchewan and she was featured on Sounds Atlantic’s weekly showcase in Nova Scotia.

A chance to work with a Toronto music producer inspired her to concentrate on her pop/rock material and go back into the studio to record her 4^th album, which she named “Amythest Child”. It was a 14-song collection of pop/rock songs with a mystic ambient tone. It was distributed to record stores and online retailers, where it continues to sell.

 Her musical career was establishing, but her heart longed for Nova Scotia. She decided to focus more on family and returned back to the East Coast to continue her musical goals. She devoted her efforts almost entirely to writing songs and has over 500 titles in her catalog.

She felt compelled to write a song in support of Canada and express her feelings of national loyalty in hopes of empowering other Canadians to feel the same. She collaborated with a local music producer and engineer in Halifax and the song: “Canada – The Northern Star” was born. The single was released to Canadian radio nationwide. Anados continues to write new material and looks forward to returning to the studio to record her 5^th full-length CD.
